Colorectal Cancer Screening

Early Detection, Better Protection.

Why is screening so important?

  • Colorectal cancer often develops slowly from benign polyps – usually without symptoms
  • Stomach problems often go unnoticed – but can be well treated
  • Early detection makes many changes curable or preventable

Which screenings do we offer?

  • Stool test (iFOBT)
    Detects blood in the stool
    Recommended annually from age 50

Colonoscopy

  • Examination of the large intestine with an endoscope
  • Polyps can be removed immediately
  • Recommended every 10 years from age 55 (from age 50 for men)

Gastroscopy

  • Examination of the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum
  • In case of symptoms such as chronic heartburn, nonspecific upper abdominal complaints,
    anemia, or family history
  • Individual recommendation depending on symptoms and risk factors

Who should get screened?

  • Everyone from age 50 (men) or 55 (women)
